How we are committed to producing Safe Quality Food
Our approach to Food Safety and Quality has evolved over the past decade, the Food Defence Team was established in 2015 acknowledging that Food Safety and Quality in supply chains requires different protocols to that of our own factories.
Bart’s Food Defence Team assures our suppliers and raw materials meet our exacting quality, authenticity, and food safety standards. Among other certifications, our manufacturing sites are accredited to BRCGS Global Standards for food safety.
Our Technical Director sits as the Technical Committee Chair of the Seasoning and Spice Association (SSA), as well as sitting on the European Spice Association Technical Commission (ESA). Additionally, we are members of Campden BRI, and fiin (the Food Industry Intelligence Network).
We are industry leaders in authenticity of Herb and Spices; since 2018 we have verified every batch of received ingredients with our in-house Near Infrared Spectrometer, building a vast dataset in the process. We sit on the Advisory Group of Fera FAPAS proficiency testing and also the Advisory Board for LGC AXIO proficiency testing.
Our Technical and Food Defence Teams assure the safety, quality and compliance against customer, national and international standards and regulations. We do not compromise on food safety or quality.

Shelf life
The majority of the food we produce is ambient stable with a long shelf life. As well as significant historical data and category knowledge, we conduct shelf-life studies to validate a product’s durability through life, for example; CIMSCEE studies, organoleptic assessments, chemical analysis, and microbiological monitoring to assure confidence for our customers.

HACCP
For every new product developed, we conduct a HACCP study to identify, evaluate and control potential allergenic, biological, chemical, or physical food safety hazards.

Allergens
Bart Ingredients’ sites are tree nut, peanut, and sesame free as standard. Our aim is to only use allergens in our products if they are a fundamental component of the recipe. Our allergen controls are validated and verified.

Gluten free and Free from
Our stringent allergen controls allow us to produce free from products, ensuring gluten free products adhere to our gluten free policy.

Our New Product Development team is always excited to work with innovative food brand and retailers to bring new products to the market. Overseen by a professional chef, we take our customers through a tried and tested gated process to make sure the product will succeed in the market.
